Functional Linguistics Leuven: Grammar, Diachrony, Typology
 |
The FLL research group engages in
corpus-based functional research of grammatical constructions
at the level of the clause as well as the phrase. Apart from
a brief statement of research methodologies
and aims, the main lines of research into the following
three areas of specialization are summarized in these pages:
Grammar:
identifying clausal and nominal construction types and their
component elements and selection restrictions;
Diachrony:
tracing the grammaticalization of nominal and clausal constructions
from representational to interpersonal and textual functions;
Typology:
testing functional and pragmatic generalizations across categories
and construction types against typological data |
