QLVL members - Dirk De Hertog
Dirk De Hertog studied Dutch and English literature and linguistics at the University of Leuven, where he obtained his MA degree in 2005. After some years of gaining overall work experience, mainly as a software engineer for a wholesale business, he decided to combine his insights in linguistics with his computational skills. In 2009 he returned to Leuven to obtain an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, with a specialisation in data mining. Currently he is working towards his PhD in linguistics, in the field of Automatic Term Extraction.

Dirk's PhD project is part of The Termwise Knowledge Platform, a multidisciplinary co-operation between (applied) linguists and computer scientists. The platform starts from existing corpus-linguistic analysis techniques to develop automatic knowledge acquisition algorithms for the creation of terminological resources.
