If you come by car
Leuven is situated on the axis Oostende-Brussel-Leuven-Liège-Köln, at the junction of two important motorways: E40 and E314. In the centre of Leuven the city authorities are trying to reduce automobile traffic, and parking space is rare.
However, there is an underground car park in the immediate vicinity of the Faculty of Arts: Parking Ladeuze, Monseigneur Ladeuzeplein (744 cars, day and night). You can also leave your car in the car park near the railway station: it's just a ten minute walk to the Faculty.
You can use this map
of Leuven to find your way around.
If you come by train
Leuven is situated on the main railways lines crossing Belgium. Timetables can be found on the website of the national railway company NMBS.
When you leave the railway station, the Faculty of Arts is just
one kilometer away: don't take the main street that faces the railway
station and the monument (the Bondgenotenlaan), but take the Maria
Theresiastraat that runs almost parallel to the Bondgenotenlaan, starting
in the left hand corner of the square. After ten minutes or so, you'll
find the Faculty of Arts on your right.
If you come by plane
If you fly into Brussels Airport, there is a direct train shuttle service to Leuven, which takes about 15 minutes. From the Leuven railway station, you can easily walk to the Faculty of Arts. The route is described above.
If you fly into Charleroi Airport ("Brussels South"), there is a
bus service to the railway station Brussel Zuid. From Brussels there
are direct trains to Leuven (approx. 30 mins). You can consult the
NMBS website
for timetables.
