Creativity, Humor and Imagery in Language

Welcome to the website of the research unit on "Creativity, Humor and Imagery in Language" (CHIL). This site aims at presenting an overview of the past, present and future research of the team coordinated by Kurt Feyaerts.

Next to a general sketch of the research profile of the unit, the site contains specific information on all the members and projects of the group, a list of recent publications (including draft versions of papers) and presentations, as well a collection of interesting links to related work.

The research presented on these pages, though highly diversified in focus and methodology, is motivated by the same common conviction that creativity is a central locus of investigation in cognitive linguistic research. After all, in order to fully cover the spectrum of language use, linguistic analysis should not be restricted to conventionalized data, but rather should treat innovative, creative language use on a par with 'core' cases.
